Clea Finkle, Program Officer, Gates Foundation (former)
Clea Finkle, PhD, is a social science and international public health specialist bringing applied research into practical interventions for large scale family planning (FP), maternal and child health, and HIV/AIDS Programs. She has researched, designed, and managed reproductive health and FP programs in East and West Africa and South Asia for more than 20 years, with a focus on the urban poor. Until recently, Clea worked for more than a decade at the Gates Foundation, strategically developing and managing the FP team’s largest urban portfolio in 12 countries in sub–Saharan Africa and Asia, with a focus on research, monitoring and evaluation, health systems strengthening, sustainability, and scale. Prior to the Gates Foundation, Clea worked with PATH, the University of Washington, Microsoft, and I‐TECH. She has a BA and MA from the University of Michigan and PhD from the University of Washington in Political Science and History with a focus on South Asian Studies.
