Tonatiuh Barrientos Gutierrez, Director of the Center for Population Health at the National Institute of Public Health in Mexico

Dr. Tonatiuh Barrientos is director of the Center for Population Health at the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) in Mexico, a member of the National Academy of Medicine in Mexico, and a Principal Investigator on the SALURBAL Project. His work focuses on several areas of public health, including tobacco control, obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease, child development and teen pregnancy. Currently, Dr. Barrientos is invested in the identification of structural interventions to reduce addiction, chronic diseases, and teen pregnancy. He holds a MD from the Autonomous Metropolitan University in Mexico and a PhD in epidemiology from the University of Texas at Houston.
